E-Safety

What is e-safety?

E-safety is concerned with safeguarding all users of the digital world, including adults. It is about learning how to use new technology in a positive way. We encourage all parents to learn what technology can offer and help their child to access content with support and guidance. E-safety is not about restriction, but about educating children about the risks and fostering independence.

Know what your child is doing online, just as you would when they are not online.
Use a child friendly search engine.

Install anti virus, firewalls, filtering and secure your Internet connections.
If content gets by filters talk about what you want your child to do if it happen.

Locate computers in a family room and do not allow webcams to be used.
The Internet is on mobile phones & games consoles. Where should they be used?

Ask your child to show you how something works. Talk to them freely.
Be open and encourage your children to talk to you.
If your child reports a problem, act on it, support them and seek advice.
