Due to the enormous success of Garden to Table, we are excited to announce the programme's expansion to include the following classes in term 4: Te Hokioi, Te Kokako O Otanewainuku, Te Ohanga and Pukeko!  Ruru, who started their Garden to Table journey in term 3, will continue in term 4, bringing the total number of classes involved in the programme next term to six!   Now for the even more exciting bit...ALL classes (with the exception of new entrants) will take part in the programme next year, 2019!  This is a first for the Bay of Plenty and can be credited to the hard work and dedication of our kitchen and garden specialists, Fotina and Heron, to our amazing volunteers and to our principal Mr King's progressive vision for Oropi School.  In 2019, classes will participate in the programme fortnightly, for two terms of the year, enabling the Kokako Garden to provide a regular supply of fresh produce and allowing the children to experience seasonal differences in the harvest.  A very big thank you to the kids of Korimako and their supportive teachers Mrs Tappenden and Mrs Pendergrast for being our pilot classes during the programme's establishment!   It has been amazing seeing the children's self-confidence and life skills developing through this inspiring programme.  To help keep Garden to Table amazing, please join us by contacting Programme Coordinator: Fotina Thompson on 021771977.  We need more volunteers both in the kitchen and the garden.  Sessions are only 90 minutes and no special skills are needed - just a willingness to engage children in learning about growing food and sharing it - easy peasy lemon squeezy!  We look forward to growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing with you!
